With reference to paragraph 2 of my

Despatch No.416 of the 12th. September, 1900, I have the

honour to inform you that on further consideration, I

have come to the conclusion that an Assistant Medical

Officer of Health is now necessary and request that you

will appoint such an Officer on the terms stated in the

enclosed copy of the particulars and duties of this

Office, drawn up by the Medical Officer of Health.

It is recommended by the Sanitary

Board that, as the present Chief Inspector is leaving the

service on account of 111-health, the opportunity should

be availed of theṇbolish his post and to create the new

appointment of Assistant Medical Officer of Health. This

recommendation I have, carefully considered, and I am

satisfied that the proposed change will undoubtedly

conduce to efficiency,
